Advent, O Adonai

Nearing sunset, in the mindset of Vespers, to continue the Christmas List of the Church, I listen to the next solemn prayer.

“O Adonai, and Leader of the house of Israel, Who didst appear to Moses in the flame of the burning bush, and didst give unto him the law on Sinai: come and with an outstretched arm redeem us.”

Exodus 3:2; 20:1

Adonai is a Hebrew name for God, meaning Lord or Master. It reflects strong authority.

We need wisdom, order and prudence.

We need good strong leadership, laws, and redemption.

Could any list be more true?

Come, O Adonai. Come, Lord Jesus.
